About the event

Sand Dancers – A Story of Courage, Community & Design

What does it take to turn an “impossible” dream into reality?

Sand Dancers follows Jimmy Simpson, a quadriplegic daredevil, on his extraordinary journey from beginner to champion surfer, set against the raw beauty of the North East coast.

This moving documentary captures more than just surfing, it’s a story of design innovation, human resilience, and the communities that rally to make the impossible possible.

Join us for a special screening and panel session as part of Tyne Design Week, featuring:

Russ from Surf Dek – who engineered the custom surfboard components

Nico from Buried Surf – who built Jimmy’s adaptive surfboard

In partnership with Redstamp Productions and Finisterre
