Edge Innovation was set up in 2015 to support innovation with and across public, private and charitable sectors, working with organisations of all sizes in a wide range of different industries.
We're based in North East England but work from here on projects across the globe.
Our Services
Everything we do is rooted in people-centred approaches. We believe that collaboration is vital for innovation and we use design-led principles to ensure all relevant voices (innovators, users, stakeholders, customers, clients, suppliers, regulators) are taken into account in developing products and services. This matters at all stages of the development journey and we can help from early ideation through to implementation and delivery.
Discover
We use mainstream tools as well as our own in-house processes, developed through many years of experience, to identify opportunities for innovation and ensure we understand the problem fully before coming up with solutions.
Define
We help clients to review the opportunities open to them and narrow down to those which are most desirable to customers whilst being technically feasible and commercially viable. This ensures that development resources are spent on the best ideas.
Develop
We help clients work up their ideas, using lean innovation processes to manage risk, control costs and ensure the end product is fit for purpose.
Deliver
We work alongside clients on the implementation of their ideas for products and services, focusing on effective, fast delivery.

Our work
We work across sectors and industries
We think innovation is relevant to all sectors and industries. We have deep knowledge in key sectors, such as transport, energy, social innovation and healthcare, but our real skill is in applying cutting edge design and innovation processes to complex projects, which could be in any field.
Public sector
We've delivered dozens of large scale innovation projects for public authorities, including local authorities, UK government bodies and NHS trusts. We can both help these organisations with their own innovation challenges and enable external engagement and delivery of services on their behalf.
Private sector
We deliver innovation and design projects for businesses from major multinationals (including projects in the US and Asia) through to ambitious technology startups. We've had particular success in raising investment for innovative businesses.
Social enterprises
We have extensive experience in working with charities and social enterprises, enabling innovation in services as well as unlocking new revenue streams. Social innovation is a massively underserved field and we are driven to unlock the potential of social enterprises.
Research institutions
We can help universities, colleges and RTOs to engage with the right partners, deliver training and support human-centred innovation projects. We have also worked on numerous spin-outs and graduate and student businesses, including raising significant finance for growth.
