Safety and security on public transport, focused on Tyne & Wear Metro stations

This workshop is focused on use of people-centred design to develop innovative approaches to improve safety and security in and around public transport hubs, ensuring a safer, more inclusive experience especially for women and girls.

We will be using Gateshead Interchange as a case study, looking forward to the redevelopment of the station planned later this decade.

Matt Godwin

Head of Corporate Planning, Nexus

Matt Godwin is Head of Corporate Planning at Nexus, the Tyne and Wear Passenger Transport Executive. Corporate Planning delivers Nexus research and insights activities, develops organisational and transport focused strategies, and delivers business cases to secure funding opportunities to create a public transport network that delivers for the communities of the North East. Corporate Planning are also responsible for reporting progress towards Nexus Corporate Business Plan.

Matt moved to the North East in 2005 and has a background in customer service, strategy and policy development and coaching and development.
